Damn You, "Nashville Star"
I seriously doubt that anyone here in New York City who happens to read this blog is a big fan of Nashville Star. Those loyal readers south of the Mason-Dixon line (yes, both of you), might have caught an episode or at least heard about it. Please allow me this opportunity to give you a bit of history. The show began two or three seasons ago on cable. It was a Country Music version of "American Idol." There was great talent, great performances. The winners have had success in their careers after the show. I suspect that its popularity on cable inspired NBC to pick it up for the full network treatment. The result is a show that leaves true fans of Country Music sitting in their trucks and crying in their beers.
Two weeks ago, probably half the songs were Motown or pop. I like both these styles, but this is "NASHVILLE" Star, dammit. Not Detroit Star or LA Star.
This week, the theme was "Pop Goes Country," where the artists were forced to take a pop song and give it a country sound. Such as "PYT" by Michael Jackson. Scratching your head, aren't you?
There are many other things that piss me off about this show, but I am now getting red-faced and angry. I don't want to talk about it anymore. Hmph.
So, damn you "Nashville Star" and damn you NBC. You have taken a great show that offered an alternative to the 50 dance contest shows and other such flotsam and turned it into the laughingstock of television. Remember the old adage: if you try to please everyone, you please no one.

I'm not surprised! Quality and integrity have no place in such things.
BTW, when are you guys coming over? We'll barbecue some burgers and dogs. *snicker*
I really like when people are expressing their opinion and thought. So I like the way you are writing
